We’re on the cusp of September, that glorious month that welcomes the changing of seasons and is represented by a most beloved gemstone—sapphire.
Surely, you’ll get your fill of the the latest, most beautiful sapphires this month here on JCK (like this roundup of birthstone beauties), elsewhere, and in social media, though is there such a thing as getting your fill of such a lovely stone?
Most of them will be blue. A blue so divine, you’ll wish to leap right in. Now I’m not suggesting that image could be tiresome (truly never!), but just this once, maybe we can welcome sapphire with another one of its hues?
Purple feels a proper choice for autumn, albeit an unexpected one. Especially in a lighter, pastel-ish form, it’s a color often marked for spring and summer. But for each of fall’s lusciously dramatic, dark colors, a purple sapphire provides the perfect complement. It’s playful against an emerald green, brightening with burgundy, flowery with brown. It’s uplifting against black, bold with navy blue, and unexpected with orange.
If you see purple gemstones and think maybe they’re not your thing, that’s understandable—the rich grape of an amethyst isn’t for everyone. But have you tried purple sapphire? Because it’s practically impossible to resist.
