RJC Appoints Edward Asscher Vice Chair

The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) has selected Edward Asscher (pictured) to be its vice chairman.

Asscher also serves as president of the World Diamond Council.

Asscher is a member of one of the diamond industry’s, as well as Amsterdam’s, best-known families. He was elected president of the World Diamond Council in June 2020. This is his second term as WDC president. He led the organization from 2014 to 2016.

He was also vice president of the European Council of Diamond Manufacturers and is a past president of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) and the International Diamond Council, the standards-setting organization affiliated with IDMA and the World Federation of Diamond Bourses.

In addition, Marianne Zani, director of development and sourcing, watches and fine jewelry for Chanel, has joined the group’s board.

David Bouffard of Signet remains the group’s chair, and John Hall is its acting CEO.
