The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), the standards organization of the global jewelry and watch industry, has appointed designer Satta Matturi (pictured) to its board of directors.
Matturi is the founder and creative lead of Matturi Fine Jewellery, which she started after a 17-year career working in rough diamond sales and valuation. Matturi Fine Jewellery has been featured on CNN and in publications such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, 1843, The Economist, and the Financial Times.
She also manages a consultancy that offers niche-tailored services to the industry through rough procurement, polished sourcing, and business advisory. She is involved in various mentorship and charitable programs within the wider jewelry and design spaces and in diamond-producing countries.
Matturi formerly appeared on JCK’s podcast, The Jewelry District.
John Hall, RJC interim executive director, said in a statement that Matturi’s “brand represents the values that are close to the RJC’s heart: gender equality, diversity, inclusiveness, and the implementation of responsible and sustainable business practices.”
Added Matturi in the same statement: “I’m delighted to be joining the board of the RJC and look forward to contributing to their strategic goals whilst representing the views and needs of diverse stakeholders who are a key part of this industry.”
