Karen Rentmeesters, who has served as interim CEO of Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) since the departure of Ari Epstein in April, has been named permanent head of the Belgium industry group.
Rentmeesters, 45, has worked at AWDC for 14 years. Prior to becoming interim CEO, she spent seven years in charge of its publicity and industry relations department.
“The fact that all board members unanimously agreed to appoint Karen as permanent CEO of the AWDC speaks volumes about the trust we all put in her,” said Isidore Mörsel, who was just reelected president of the group’s board, in a statement. “Karen can count on her vast experience in the diamond industry, an extensive network, and the necessary expertise. In the past three months, as interim CEO, she has demonstrated to be an absolute added value for the organization.”
