Poll: Most Men Might Wear a Man-gagement Ring

The findings of Engagement 101‘s new 2013 Just-Engaged Couple Survey reveal a lot about the newly married, including that 71 percent of men “would be open to wearing an engagement ring for guys,” called a man-gagement ring.

“Committed relationships in America are evolving, and it has a direct impact on the bridal jewelry market,” Severine Ferrari, editor-in-chief of Engagement 101 and YourEngagement101.com, told JCK.

The survey was given to 1,000 newly engaged men and women who used Engagement 101and YourEngagement101.com to plan their engagements. The average age of respondents was 30 for women and 32 for men.

Some of the survey’s other findings were equally compelling:

  • 57 percent of men said they delayed proposals because they were unsure of their readiness or if the woman was “the one.”
  • 29 percent of men said they delayed asking due to financial issues.
  • 5 percent of the women said they proposed to their fiancés.

To celebrate results, YourEngagement101.com is hosting an Instagram contest called How Would You Propose To Him? The contest, sponsored by the Sylvie Collection, kicked off Sept. 18. To enter, women who are ready to get married but haven’t yet received a ring are encouraged to create a 15-second video explaining how they’d propose to their significant other. The winner will receive a blue topaz and diamond ring from the Sylvie Collection.
