Pinterest Releases Fall 2024 Trend Report

Share

Pinterest’s recently unveiled fall trend report offers a glimpse at what the platform’s users are in the market for heading into the new season.

The report covers trends in areas such as hair and makeup, home decorating, food, and travel—and categories focusing on fashion (and even crafting) point to some notable trends for jewelers.

Fashion looks to be taking a creative turn this season, with Pinners interested in leopard prints and camouflage, among other styles. You get a sense of fun from popular searches like “lobster sweater,” “puff skirt outfit,” and “jersey with skirt outfit,” as if consumers are itching to experiment with style. Jewelry can play a big part in that experimenting, with bold statement necklaces and earrings—always a safe bet come holiday season.

Hair and makeup trends don’t necessarily determine what happens in jewelry, but growth in searches for “bow nail designs” seems to align with the ongoing bow jewelry trend.

The best clues to potential jewelry trends may come by way of the report’s hobbies section, where increases in searches for “small bead bracelet ideas,” “bff bracelet ideas,” “wood resin jewelry,” and “paper quilling jewelry” are noted. We knew that beads and charms were already in demand, and though these searches point to users looking to DIY, the less crafty among them will buy the look.

If you were to identify a single theme for the entire report, it would be Japanese. An interest in Japanese style is evident in almost every category, including home decorating (“Japanese vintage art,” “Zen bathroom,” “Japanese furniture”); fashion (“Japanese long skirt outfit”); hair (“Japanese side bangs”); food (“Japanese candy,” “mochi recipe,” “katsu curry”); and even hobbies (“Japanese crochet bag,” “Japanese books”). What jewelers looking to embrace this moment might do: spotlight Japanese designers and collections inspired by places in Japan.
