Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo has appointed vintage and pocket watch collector David Lou (pictured) to its advisory board.
A Phillips statement said that Lou, a resident of Japan, is known for his great passion for vintage watches. His love of both pocket watches and vintage watches dates back to when he was a teenager, it said.
Other members of the auction house’s advisory board include noted collectors Auro Montanari, who sometimes goes by the name John Goldberger, and industry legend Jean-Claude Biver.
“It is an immense pleasure and privilege to welcome David to our distinguished Advisory Board,” said Aurel Bacs, senior consultant, in a statement. “Since my first meeting with David, I was impressed by his impeccable style, deep knowledge and sense for quality—values we at Phillips share and aspire to. I look forward to sharing many constructive dialogues with David in the future and learning from him.”
In 2017, Phillips sold Paul Newman’s Rolex Cosmograph Daytona for $17.7 million, setting a world record for a wristwatch at auction.
