I had to consult Urban Dictionary for the latest slang

I believe that a simple strand of pearls is a necessity in every jewelry lover’s collection. It’s true that I don’t wear mine often—a phase that I seem to go in and out of—but I know they’ll be there when I need them/feel drawn to them again. But for those who truly love pearls, there are plenty of standout options that go above the beyond the jewel box staple. I believe the new term—used by teens? tweens? Oh man, I don’t even know—is extra. Over the top, dramatic. Why yes, I did have to consult Urban Dictionary. I think the younger set is using the term as more of a complaint that anything (ugh, Jessica is acting so extra about this whole thing), but I prefer to see it as supreme superfluousness that you totally want to experience. Am I like the mom who embarrasses everyone?
