With the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics finally here, jewelers and watchmakers are getting in on the competition with special-edition pieces designed exclusively for the games. Among them are the medals for the lucky few athletes themselves, created by Parisian high jeweler Chaumet (the first ever to be commissioned to design the medals), as well as distinct Omega watches (the brand is the official timekeeper of the games for nearly a century, after all) and more. Below, we’re taking a closer look.
Chaumet
The very first high jeweler commissioned to design the Olympic medals, LVMH-owned maison Chaumet created the medals for the Olympics and Paralympics. These aren’t your average Olympic medals, however; Chaumet incorporated material from the Eiffel Tower into each and every medal for an even more spectacular and sentimental design.
Omega
Naturally, as the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games (since 1932!), Omega is releasing special edition models in celebration of this year’s competition. The first, a special edition of the Seamaster Diver 300M, features a blend of steel and 18k proprietary “Moonshine” gold, with the seconds hand displaying the symbol of the 2024 Olympic Games. It’s available exclusively at Omega’s Paris store.
Unveiled precisely 100 days before the opening ceremony on July 26, the second release is the Speedmaster Chronoscope. The 43 mm design is available in four models, each featuring a silvery white opaline dial with three dark gray timing scales and two sub-dials. Even more, the commemorative caseback includes a “Paris 2024” logo, Olympic rings, and date.
Pandora
Danish jeweler Pandora is also getting in on the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games hype with a nine-piece capsule collection inspired by the competition. The designs include a bracelet and charms with mascots and symbols associated with the games, and the campaign for the capsule is fronted by two French athletes: boxer Estelle Mossely (who won gold at the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro) and footballer Sakina Karchaoui (the captain of France’s women’s national soccer team). The collection is available in Pandora stores as well as a few Olympic official stores across Paris.
Mio Harutaka
Tokyo-based jeweler Mio Harutaka is showing national pride through sapphires, diamonds, and rubies—and plenty of them. The collection of bling rings, all set in white gold, is the perfect way to celebrate the games in the City of Light.
