It’s opening day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, where the most esteemed designers are showing their spring 2014 collections—which also means it’s time to learn about the Pantone seasonal color picks. Fashion, like jewelry, goes hand in hand with some serious color decisions, so twice a year (timed with the fall and spring editions of MBFW), the color authority based in Carlstadt, N.J., debuts a Fashion Color Report.
Selections in the Pantone’s spring 2014 Fashion Color Report serve as a thorough overview of designers’ color choices in new clothing collections. Colors for women and men are as follows:

According to Pantone executive director Leatrice Eiseman, “This season, consumers are looking for a state of thoughtful, emotional, and artistic equilibrium. While this need for stability is reflected in the composition of the palette, the inherent versatility of the individual colors allows for experimentation with new looks and color combinations.”
