Today at Watches and Wonders 2024, Swiss watchmaker Panerai is introducing a capsule collection inspired by the America’s Cup sailing tournament and the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team that competes in it.
This addition to Panerai’s Luna Rossa line “marks a significant milestone in our innovation journey,” said Panerai CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué in a statement. The new submersible watches are made with Panerai’s trademarked materials, including “the pioneering Ti-Ceramitech, a material seven years in the making by our Laboratorio di Idee in Neuchâtel, that epitomizes our dedication to advanced technologies as well as the spirit of Luna Rossa’s quest for daring performances,” according to Pontroué’s statement.
“Our association with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team resonates deeply with Panerai’s maritime heritage and our pursuit of boundary-pushing performance,” Pontroué said. “This partnership is a natural extension of our brand’s core values.”
Panerai has been Luna Rossa’s official timekeeper for the past three years. The team’s skipper and director, Max Sirena, said in a statement: “The synergy with Panerai takes us on a shared journey in pushing the limits of performance, where precision, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence are at the heart of our endeavors.”
Here, we bring you a first look at three new timepieces in Panerai’s Luna Rossa collection (with more to come). The America’s Cup tournament—the oldest international competition in any sport—begins this year in August.
