If you have a customer who’s been looking to invest in a new dive watch but has somehow managed to put off doing so all summer, Omega has released a 25th anniversary version of its iconic Seamaster Diver 300M that could sway them—just in time for a Labor Day getaway filled with open-water adventures.
Unveiled at Baselworld 2018 (awkward…), the new divers are intended to entice collectors, avid and expert scuba divers, and James Bond fans alike. Fittingly, the launch is backed by a splashy new ad campaign starring a partially submerged Daniel Craig as 007 himself.
With 14 new models, including six in stainless steel and eight in a mix of stainless steel and gold, the original model, which first came out in 1993, has undergone a complete face-lift.
Now sized at a larger 42 mm, each new Diver 300M features a number of retooled exterior design elements, including the diving bezel, which is now made in ceramic, with the diving scale in Ceragold™ or white enamel. The dials are also made from polished ceramic, and the date window has been moved to six o’clock. Even the skeleton hands have been subtly reshaped.
Other important, defining characteristics of the original design have also been tweaked, from the dial’s wave pattern (now laser-engraved) to the helium escape valve (now featuring a new, conical shape).
The Seamaster Diver 300M collection ranges in price from $4,750 to $9,700.
Later this year, a deluxe version of new the Diver 300M will be offered to the discerning collector. Clad in tantalum and titanium, this tribute watch is limited to 2,500 pieces and will retail for $13,000.
