Neiman Marcus and Saks both cited jewelry as among their strongest categories
in their November sales reports.
Neiman said jewelry was “strong,” along with women’s shoes and designer
handbags. Overall comp sales for November were up 6.4 percent. Total revenues were
$322 million.
Saks Fifth Avenue’s best categories were jewelry, along with women’s shoes,
women’s designer, women’s outerwear, fashion jewelry, soft accessories, men’s
private brand, and men’s contemporary sportswear. Overall comparable store
sales increased 5.3 percent for November. Total sales were $254.9 million.
