We’re about to enter sapphire’s month, but Pamela Love’s latest collaboration with Muzo makes it a season (or longer) to celebrate emeralds. The award-winning designer has once again collaborated with Muzo Emerald Colombia on a collection for her eponymous brand.
“We are proud to be working with a company that shares our two most treasured missions,” says the Pamela Love website. “First, to create beautiful jewelry, and second, to do so in a manner that honors both those who help us in its creation and the earth that provides us with the natural materials we are so honored to create with.”
Eight pieces comprise the new Jardin collection, including some one-of-a-kinds, and their designs feel like a cross between Love’s very wearable, very cool aesthetic and a once-in-a-lifetime find of ancient buried treasure.
“I was inspired by the Muzo stones themselves—the color and shapes, the intensity of the green,” Love tells JCK. “I wanted to make the emeralds the stars but still create something very nontraditional. I looked at a lot of ancient Roman jewelry as well as ancient jewelry from Colombia, where the Muzo mine is located. I chose to accent the stones with pearls because I think it feels unexpected and whimsical.”
