Earlier this week we offered a look at some very chic chain jewelry, and one of the pieces featured is a necklace by Moritz Glik. Well, there’s more where that came from by the jeweler who loves to shake thinks up.
It was hard to select just one for that article on chains, anyway—each of these new pieces is just too good. Glik’s Muda collection combines his signature white sapphire Kaleidoscope shakers with that modern chain that has been calling shoppers’ names, demanding to be worn on the neck, the finger, the wrist, the ear.
The Muda collection is not exclusively devoted to chains. A line of statement pieces (aren’t all of Glik’s pieces statement-making, really?), each has its own attractive collection of elements, from bezel-set gemstones and diamonds in varying shapes and colors to a burst of color from enamel. The common thread at the center of each, of course, is the Kaleidoscope shaker.
“Dramatic effect” is a mark of the collection, this according to its very apt description, tying together the varying styles into one cohesive line. The Portuguese word for change, Muda is a revisiting of the designer’s core works, injecting new life and spirit into his steadfast styles. “More than a single collection, it represents all the exciting changes and growth the brand is going through,” says a brand statement of Muda.
One of the best parts—besides the collection’s killer looks—is its effort to utilize sustainably sourced materials: upcycled gold and alternative materials where applicable (some new additions feature tagua and coconut shells).
While the pieces heavy with chain elements are what reeled me in, I’m content to get lost in each creation that comprises this collection—as I’m sure anyone would be.
