Designer Michael Aram was presented with the 2014 MAD Visionaries! Award on Nov. 11 in New York.
The MAD Visionaries! Awards are presented by the Museum of Art and Design to “four influential creators and leaders in the art, craft and design industries, whose work personifies the museum’s mission to explore and celebrate contemporary making and skilled craftsmanship across all media.”
Digital designer Richard Dupont, gallerist and collector Barry Friedman, and contemporary furniture company Ligne Roset also received awards.
Aram was honored for his “enduring contributions to the world of home decor, as well as his legacy of over two and a half decades of fine craftsmanship, sculpture, and innovation,” according to press materials from the museum.
JCK profiled Aram—and showcased pieces from his first fine jewelry collection, which launched this year—in the September 2014 issue.
