MiaDonna, an e-tailer specializing in lab-grown diamonds, has opened a new store near its home base in Portland, Ore.
The 1,000-square-foot store, in the upscale Bridgeport Village shopping center of Portland suburb Tigard, replaces MiaDonna’s previous Portland retail location—and could serve as a template for stores to come.
“We have an aggressive retail expansion planned,” CEO Anna-Mieke Anderson tells JCK.
That’s partly the result of new ownership—an Indian grower that doesn’t want to be named acquired MiaDonna last year, Anderson says.
The new owner, which has been “certified sustainably rated” by SCS Global Systems, is now MiaDonna’s exclusive supplier of lab-grown diamonds.
“[Consumers] are under the assumption that all lab-grown diamonds are sustainable and ethical,” says Anderson. “That is really not the case with so many middlemen entering the market.”
She notes that the e-tailer has been reapproved for B Corporation certification, which it was first awarded in 2019.
