I’ve been doing some shopping ahead of a planned summer vacation (yay!), and, as I click through numerous online retailer sites, it’s becoming clear that metallics are very big this year.
From bronzy bathing suits to gold Lurex sweaters and shimmering stripy tank tops, everything has a bit of glitter. Most things aren’t over the top (though if it’s sequins you’re looking for, you’ll find those in abundance, too), just a healthy amount of shine to complement your freshly tanned (or in my case, hopefully about-to-be-tanned) skin.
While pretty much any piece of jewelry would suit these styles (I love the idea of deep jewel-tone gems paired with the stripes), imagine what an impact the addition of big, chunky metals would have. That golden bikini would do style overtime with bold gold hoops (it would look amazing with contrasting silver ones, too). Rose gold rings would cozy right up to the pink metallic threads—a sweet-and-spicy combo. And there’s just something about chunky gold chains on the beach that I find particularly appealing this year—like a nautical theme, but make it fashion.
We may never be able to say that great gold (or silver!) jewelry isn’t in style in some way or another, and I think we can always count on a generous number of brands, designers, and manufacturers to continue to keep it exciting. But this particular iteration of arrivals to clothing lines has me making an extra metal-y jewelry wish list for summer.
