Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas will offer a Black Starr & Frost Journey diamond necklace, created in honor of Meryl Streep, to benefit the Academy Award-winning actress’s chosen charity, Equality Now.
The event will be held May 21 at Heritage Auction Galleries, however absentee online bidding has begun and will run till May 20.
The event is being held in conjunction with the auction houses’ Spring Signature Auction of Fine Jewelry and Timepieces, said Jill Burgum, director of Jewelry Auctions for Heritage.
The necklace features graduated, round brilliant-cut diamonds weighing a total of 2.35 cts., set in platinum, and supported by an 18k yellow gold Omega style necklace. It has a retail value of $25,000.
“We’re sure that the association with both Ms. Streep and Equality Now will raise its final value considerably,” Burgum said.
The diamonds were sourced by Pluczenik, a Diamond Trading Company sightholder, and certified through the Kimberly Process as well as under Source Veritas by the Gem Certification & Assurance Lab, Inc., as conflict free.
“I also think it’s important to note that Black, Starr & Frost, Source Veritas, and Heritage Auctions have fully donated all the services and materials for this event, Burgum said. “Therefore, Equality Now will receive 100% of the necklace auction proceeds.”
Equality Now is an international human rights organization dedicated to action for the civil, political, economic, and social rights of girls and women.
