Jewelry designer Maya Brenner announced this week that she will run a special, three-day promotion in which 100 percent of proceeds from sales of her popular California State pendant necklace will go to benefit victims of the recent mudslides in Montecito, Calif.
The campaign begins today, Jan. 19, and continues through this Sunday, Jan. 21. The effort is already being recognized and promoted on social media, receiving a special mention from fashion blogger @couldihavethat.
Maya Brenner has specifically chosen to help victims by supporting the local efforts of Direct Relief, a nonprofit organization that was founded in Santa Barbara and assists individuals in emergencies.
The sudden and violent mudslides took place on Tuesday, Jan. 9, killing 20 people when heavy precipitation flooded an area where the ground had already been destabilized by large-scale wildfires.
The pendant necklace, part of Brenner’s States line, is a favorite of pop star and Santa Barbara native Katy Perry. It’s priced at $130 in sterling silver and $395 in 14k yellow gold.
