The iconic actress loved jewelry—and wore it beautifully
Mary Tyler Moore, the iconic actress whose 1970s TV series, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, broke new ground for women in and out of Hollywood, passed away Wednesday at the age of 80.
The then-irreverent style of Moore’s TV character Mary Richards has been celebrated for decades. Evoking “Mary Richards” in conversations about fashion serves as shorthand for a certain mode of effortless, turtlenecked ’70s style.
If photos of Moore offscreen are any indication, the actress was a lifelong lover of bold, statement-making jewelry, too.
Rifling through imagery of Moore unearths pictures of the influential actress—from various stages of her extraordinary life—draped in gorgeous multistrand necklaces, chunky gold cuffs, swingy earrings, and pearls galore.
