Joshua Plante, formerly a vice president at Pandora, has been named CEO of Maria Black, the Copenhagen-based company specializing in gold, silver, and piercing jewelry.

Plante previously worked as chief marketing officer at Mikkeller, a beer brand, and Soundboks, a speaker company. From 2016 to 2019, he served as vice president, global brand marketing, for Pandora. Prior to that, he headed global brand communications for Adidas.

Maria Black currently has eight flagship stores and piercing studios worldwide, as well as wholesale partners in over 30 markets.

In a statement, founder and creative director Maria Black said Porte’s experience at global brands “aligns seamlessly with our objectives of expanding market presence, fortifying brand identity, and charting new pathways for growth.”

Plante, whose appointment took effect Jan. 1, looks forward to increasing Maria Black’s “global presence,” he said.

“The brand’s dedication to sustainable practices, coupled with their unparalleled expertise in fine gold piercings, has elevated the entire piercing experience to a premium level,” Plante said.
