Yesterday’s Britt’s Pick—a euphoric smiley face ring by Japanese brand Komi—sent me down the path of signet rings, a style both classic and current in the market.
They’re no industry secret, but the signet ring feels a fresh, personable option after all of the well-documented pendants, charms, and even earrings. True, they possess somewhat of a hurdle when it comes to gifting them—rings are often size contingent, earrings aren’t—but that extra step makes them all the more special to the wearer, having it sized to fit one’s finger just right.
The question is, which finger? A signet worn on the pinky is, again, nothing new, but indeed a budding trend. There’s the middle finger, which I tend to default to, though a particularly petite piece might look most at home on the ring finger or pinky. The index finger and thumb needn’t go naked—there’s a size and style suitable for every digit.
And so we come to the best part, the roll call of recent signet rings, proving once again that there’s room for interpretation on this classic silhouette.
