No overnight sensation, kite-shape jewelry—referring to the stone or the overall shape of the design, in this case—is a fantastic option for most shoppers. In ring form, the shape elongates the finger, making it an excellent choice for nearly everyone (especially someone with short, stubby hands like mine!). In a pendant or pair of earrings, it’s somewhat seductive, with a slinky, geometric style.
The shape can be as playful as it can be tough: airy and colorful like an actual kite, or fierce and protective like a shield. You might also want to call it a diamond shape. Technically, a true kite shape would be flatter or more angled on top, rather than possessing perfect symmetry, but I’ve rounded up a bit of each variety because it’s just such a good look for the holiday season. I can’t quite put my finger on exactly what it is about the pointed silhouette that makes it so festive, but can you see it, too? Time to get stocking!
