Pink is big again this year, and for jewelry, that doesn’t have to mean we only utilize it in gemstones.
Rose gold has never been the dominant metal—it’s rare to find a consumer that outfits themselves exclusively in the pinkish metal—but it’s popular and well-liked nonetheless, owing to its soft, feminine sheen and general ability to look good with anything.
Unlike silver or white-colored metals, rose gold causes less contrast when paired with yellow gold (sometimes it can even be difficult to tell the two apart from afar). So it’s less of a polar opposite for those married to yellow gold.
But rose gold is just as beautiful when done in a two-tone, or even tricolor, metal combination, and there’s not a gemstone that doesn’t look glorious set in it. When it comes to engagement rings, rose gold might be a harder sell for most (though certainly not all) consumers. On the fashion side, however, it’s a no-brainer.
These latest jewels demonstrate why, whether we’re having a Barbie year or a millennial-pink one—or at any other time—rose gold is always in fashion.
