My bags are packed, I’m ready to head back east, but I can’t get these jewels out of my head. And you know what’s surprising? There’s not a single earring in the bunch.
What to make of this?
If you were at JCK Las Vegas, you may have taken note of JCK editor-in-chief Victoria Gomelsky’s keen observation in one of the Show Daily editions: “The Zoom earring no longer reigns supreme. In its place, make way for the mask-friendly necklace,” she observed. And I guess I’m inclined to agree!
Not sure where a pearl tiara falls into the list of priorities, or the many bracelets and rings that captured my fancy. All I know is that it was a delight to handle and try on incredibly well-made fine jewelry again, and rediscover the unique joy of staring down at, say, Nader Kash’s 17 ct. elongated radiant-cut diamond ring or the astonishing kunzite (kunzite!) mounted in Jorge Adeler’s gold and diamond cuff.
Up top I have shown Le Vian’s turquoise elephant pendant, which the brand has named Icon of the Year as part of its 2022 Trend Forecast. The animal is a universal symbol of wisdom, good luck, and protection, and turquoise is a healing stone that promotes peace and tranquility—the revered pachyderm and gemstone together seem spot-on for this precise moment, and I’ll be on the lookout for more. Just you wait.
