Brazilian designer Larissa Moraes crafts jewelry that is—pardon the cliché phrase—wearable art. Her creations are sculptures of metal and gemstones, worthy of museums and red carpets just as much as an individual’s private collection.
Her latest collection, inspired by the works of Vincent van Gogh, is even more of an art exhibit meant to be worn. An epic necklace inspired by the famed Starry Night (pictured at top); warm-hued earrings inspired by Sunflowers; a gorgeously glossy gold ring inspired by Irises. That these pieces embody the work of such a renowned artist makes them incredibly special, but they stand on their own as elegantly crafted works of brilliance and beauty.
The eponymous brand is a relatively new one, with Moraes going full-time jewelry designer in 2018 after years of studying law and working as a legal aide in Brazil’s capital, Brasília. In 2019, she started posting on Instagram; her feed fortuitously gained her invitations to participate in several Brazilian jewelry exhibitions, and Larissa Moraes Jewelry was born.
Luxury jewelry e-tailer La Maison Couture recently announced it would carry Moraes’ line. The designer makes each of her pieces by hand, using conflict-free precious metals and stones.
