Lagos is well-known—and loved—for its trend-forward but assuredly classic line of designs, with its signature Caviar beaded detail and crowd-pleasing range of categories, from earrings of all types to charms and pendants to cuffs, bangles, and even bracelets for your Apple Watch. The brand, which got its beginnings in Philadelphia in the late ’70s, has achieved that instantly recognizable aesthetic and quality that undoubtedly makes it a heritage brand.
Like a number of other heritage brands, Lagos is concentrating more efforts on high jewelry with the unveiling of Lagos Studio, a capsule collection of one-of-a-kind jewels inspired by the Lagos Studio in Bangkok, handcrafted using high-quality metals and gemstones. You’ll notice a variety of worldly influences here, from the tastir patterns of Morocco and the lotus blooms of Vietnam to Far East-inspired details and European fashions—it reads like a well-traveled passport of luxury jewels.
I had the pleasure of viewing the collection over the summer at this year’s Couture event in Las Vegas, and instantly compiled a running tally of pie-in-the-sky jewels for my (lottery-win-pending) wish list: dreamy, beautifully carved jade; heirloom-worthy tassels; gorgeously colored gems. My favorite pieces incorporate a signature L design, the kind of detail that cements a jewelry house’s icon status—it’s giving luxury indeed. You’ll find it in a pair of diamond-dotted stud earrings or, my personal favorite (pictured at top), anchoring a delicious-looking bunch of sapphires arranged to look like grapes (and is it just me who’s now dreaming of faraway vineyard sunsets?).
“For over 10 years, I’ve worked side-by-side with our Bangkok team to develop what’s new and what’s next,” said brand founder Steven Lagos in a statement. “Their talent and commitment are unmatched; this special collection speaks to their unique contributions.”
The collection is making its way around the country through exclusive events at premier Lagos partners—Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and select independent jewelers—where it can be found in each location for a limited time. At Bloomingdale’s 59th Street location in New York, and Bloomingdale’s South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif., a seasonal selection of styles will be available through the end of the year.
