I haven’t seen a ladybug yet this year, but with spring only a few days away, I’m hopeful.
The funny thing is, I don’t even like bugs. I run far away from bees. I scream at the sight of spiders. I detest flies and mosquitoes (who doesn’t?). And I don’t like beetles, which ladybugs technically are.
Ladybugs are different, though—they’re special. The presence of a ladybug feels like good luck, and if the odd ladybug happens to catch you in a spiritual moment, it can work wonders. I remember one landing on the stroller of my first child when she was a baby, the day before we took our first big trip with her. I took it as a sign that everything would be okay—it was calming.
Another time, a ladybug made its way into our house, just as the flowers were starting to bloom outside. To me, it signaled the end of a tough winter and, again, induced a sense of calm.
Which bring us to ladybug jewelry—an ever wearable piece of luck, a portable sense of calm, a perfect example of the powerful, amulet-esque capabilities of the right jewel. Ladybugs and other garden friends start to garner more attention in the spring season, but their symbolism makes them perfect for year-round wear (I never take my two ladybug charms off, though come to think of it, they certainly could use a cleaning).
So for spring and beyond, here are some of the newest ladybug jewels to spread good luck and happiness.
