Kinn Studio’s new flagship store in Culver City, Calif., is founder Jennie Yoon’s dream space, a tactile, immersive environment that focuses on the personal nature of buying fine jewelry, she says.
The store is located at 8840 Washington Blvd., in Suite 107 of Platform, a Southern California shopping destination known for in the fashion, wellness, and culinary retailers including Reformation, Wyeth, and Aesop.
Yoon says her desire to open a store arose because many clients were making appointments to visit her studio in downtown Los Angeles to try pieces on.
“Opening a new store right now is a natural evolution for Kinn. We’ve built a strong foundation as a digital-first brand, and our community has grown significantly,” Yoon says. “There’s something intimidate about allowing customers to experience our pieces in person, especially when it comes to fine jewelry.”
She chose the location in Culver City because it holds a special place in Kinn’s history. “It’s where I held my first pop-up, meeting customers in person at a small table right outside of what is now our store. This community and neighborhood felt so right—it’s where Kinn really started to connect with people.”
“Culver City also has that ‘if you know, you know’ vibe,” says Yoon. “It’s not an overly commercial area, which allows us to create a more intimate experience. This location is meaningful not just for me but for the growth of the brand and the community that has supported us from the beginning.”
Yoon worked with L.A.-based interior designer Lauren Moore of the Design Assembly to create the store’s look, which centers on natural materials—mainly, stone—architectural elements, and custom-fabricated jewelry displays.
“Marble is made by Mother Earth, and there’s so much beauty in its uniqueness—no two stones are alike,” Yoon says. “Its distinct patterns remind us that there’s something to appreciate in every imperfection, and it brings character to the space in a way that uniformity simply can’t.”
Solid oak and polished brass are Yoon’s other favorite aspects of the interior design. The store’s main colors form a calming palette of soft whites, warm beige tones, and a hint of the brand’s signature green-blue.
“This deep blue with a green hue feels rich, classic, and timeless, which aligned with our focus on longevity, both for the brand and the customer experience,” Yoon says.
Kinn Studio’s flagship has space for custom jewelry consultations, private shopping events, and a dedicated area for engagement and wedding ring appointments, Yoon says.
“I want people to feel like they’re stepping into another dimension—one where luxury surrounds them but they can also have a good time,” Yoon says. “It’s important to me that our customer feel welcomed, inspired, and at ease when they walk in.
“The space is designed to encourage them to explore, reflect, and connect with our pieces in a way that’s meaningful to their personal journey.”
