Ever since Muzo Emerald Colombia debuted its robust designer collaboration program in 2018, it’s been quietly pursuing partnerships with a number of jewelry designers—petite capsules with the likes of The Rock Hound, Adina Reyter, and Dana Bronfman. JCK has also learned about a forthcoming collection with Harwell Godfrey.
The mining company has partnered with jewelry designer Katherine Jetter in the past, and she was planning to unveil a series of new pieces featuring Muzo emeralds in Las Vegas this year.
Instead, the jewels are summering on Nantucket, Mass.
More specifically, they have arrived in Jetter’s fine jewelry boutique, The Vault Nantucket, on Centre Street, where she also carries jewelry by Silvia Furmanovich, Graziela Gems, Alex Šepkus, Renna, Moritz Glik, Victor Velyan, and other celebrated talent.
“I love to combine stones with complementary colorways, and I love the play of the blue undertones in the Colombian Muzo emeralds with the peacock undertones in Tahitian gray pearls,” says Jetter. “For my latest work with Muzo, I continued with the pearl concept but also played with the idea of light versus dark. The bright green against the backdrop of a darkened metal/black enamel creates an eye-popping illusion that magnifies the emeralds’ vivid undertones.
“In general though, the more I work with Muzo emeralds, the more I fall in love with them and will continue to want to work with them. I love the location in Colombia where they are found, the color of the stones, and the way in which Muzo as a company is investing in responsible mining and distribution.”
Here’s a look at some of Jetter’s newest Muzo pieces—summer may fade away, but these little green goddesses have perennial appeal (and will look fab with any face mask).
