At the Vanity Fair Oscar party last month, actors Kate Bosworth and Justin Long made their red-carpet debut as a couple. What turned heads besides the attractive duo themselves was the oversize diamond solitaire ring on Bosworth’s left ring finger. From there, engagement rumors swirled (naturally), but the two remained tight-lipped—until now.
Just a few days ago, on Long’s podcast Life Is Short, he and Bosworth confirmed the engagement that happened earlier this year. “She said YES… to being a guest on @lifeisshortpodcast! And to other slightly more life-changing questions ;)” Long had teased on Instagram. “My favorite person is now also my favorite guest on my favorite podcast! One day the incredibly talented @katebosworth will be on this podcast and talk about her years of memorable acting performances but on THIS episode we mostly talk about… the events that lead up to her agreeing to spend her life with this very VERY lucky podcast host.”
On the podcast, Bosworth gave a glimpse into the proposal: “We had just gone through this really hard thing, and we had spoken to a therapist,” Bosworth recalled, describing a moment that occurred shortly after one of their therapy sessions: “I remember I smiled at you, and I said, ‘What do you need?’ And he really looked at me, and he said, ‘To spend my life with you.’ And I smiled, and I say, ‘Well, yeah, you have that—oh, my gosh, you have that.’ And he said, ‘No, I mean, I really want to spend my life with you.’”
Long gave Bosworth a solitaire ring, which symbolizes the union of two becoming one. The ring’s precise size, cost, and details have yet to be confirmed, though varying reports abound. Below are a few solitaire styles, similar to Bosworth’s. Here’s to the happy couple!
