When Karl Lagerfeld launched its bridal line at last year’s JCK LUXURY show, the men’s bands took a back seat. Many retailers and press weren’t even aware of their existence.
Similarly, when the collection was formally introduced in its entirety to the media last fall (ahead of its November in-store date), all eyes were understandably on its incredible assortment of bold, modern engagement rings. Elegantly detailed with the Kaiser’s signatures—think pyramids and pointy collars—the fancy diamond shapes, geometric motifs, and crisp, knife-edged silhouettes told a tale of fierce Parisian sophistication. And the men’s bands weren’t really part of the story.
Until now. The brand, licensed by the Frederick Goldman Luxury Group, recently unveiled its spring/summer 2017 assortment, a quieter offering where the engagement rings’ pyramid details are less spiky and pronounced, the silhouettes more delicate and refined.
And perhaps because of this softer, scaled-back approach, the latest men’s bands are suddenly standing out in sharp relief.
In fact, the bands are so striking that they don’t even have to be merchandised as bridal—maybe just as cool, elevated accessories to pair with Mr. Lagerfeld’s SS17 men’s fashion collection.
Meanwhile, the 5mm band below has gender-neutral appeal, which could add a bit of rock star edge to a female customer’s otherwise sweet ring stack.

As for the other bands in the collection, be careful—much like the designer’s notoriously savage tongue and tailored suits, they’re dangerously chic.
