The owner of the Topeka, Kan., jewelry store the Diamond House has pleaded guilty to knowingly buying stolen jewelry.
John Dasher pleaded guilty to one count of transporting stolen goods. He admitted to knowingly buying jewelry that had been stolen during home invasions, melting it down, and selling it as scrap gold to the wholesalers Pop Gems International, Gold Empire, and Coinex Inc.
U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom has recommended a sentence of 12 months and a day followed by two years of supervised release and a forfeiture of $130,000.
