Alphabet jewelry designs—even those that can be customized by the shopper—are ubiquitous these days. But the Chain Letter collection from contemporary brand K Kane manages to put a fresh spin on an old idea.

The design series turns individual letters into open links that seamlessly make up pretty gold chain styles.

Brand founder Katherine Kane spent five years at Harry Winston before getting her MBA at Duke University, where she developed K Kane through the school’s entrepreneurship programs. Using a calligraphy pen and a jeweler’s saw, the designer created the first K Kane signature pendant for herself. A flurry of requests from friends followed.

Cut to eight years later, and the brand is carried in A-list stores—including Neiman Marcus and Ron Robinson at Fred Segal—and has been worn by Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Hailee Steinfeld, Wiz Khalifa, and other celebs.

Kane has created other lines for her brand, but the Chain Letter collection feels particularly innovative—and a great buy for jewelers looking for styles that appeal to women of all ages.
