Members of the jewelry, gemstone, and related industries with outstanding sustainability initiatives are encouraged to apply for the Jewellery World Awards (JWA), which are accepting nominations through April 30.
Presented by online resource Informa Markets Jewellery, the JWA Sustainability Awards recognize brands that have demonstrated commitment to generating environmental, equality, inclusivity, or innovation benefits since 2021.
“The Sustainability Awards celebrate organizations that truly walk the talk by embedding sustainability principles into everything they do. It’s about going beyond profit and making a positive impact through their activities and operations,” David Bondi, senior vice president of Informa Markets in Asia, said in a statement.
“We want them to share their stories, milestones, and achievements since these vividly illustrate the immense possibilities that arise when sustainability becomes an intrinsic part of one’s business endeavors,” Bondi added. “Through these inspiring examples, they demonstrate that creating a better future is not only conceivable but also attainable.”
Awards are given in five categories, with a nomination deadline of April 30 for all. A brand can be nominated in up to two categories. There is no cost to apply.
The first round of judging is scheduled for May, and award finalists will be announced on June 20 during the Jewellery & Gem Asia Hong Kong show. The finalists will be invited to join the Sustainability Heroes panel series at Jewellery & Gem World (JGW) Hong Kong in September.
The final round of judging will occur in July, with the winners being announced within the same month. Award recipients will be honored and presented with their trophies during a JGW reception in Hong Kong on Sept. 18.
The five Jewellery World Awards categories are:
Environmental Stewardship Award: Nature Conservation and Regeneration for outstanding leadership in practices to protect and restore ecosystems, support biodiversity, reduce environmental impact, and foster sustainable resource management.
Social Empowerment Award: Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for efforts to create equal opportunities for all, through initiatives such as enhancing access to education and health care, promoting inclusivity, and empowering individuals and communities.
Manufacturing Innovation Award: Technological Advancement and Sustainable Operations for actions that both demonstrate innovation in technology, operations, research and development, and logistics and prioritize sustainable practices—such as those aimed at energy efficiency, waste reduction, and green supply chain management.
Community Engagement Award: Fostering Local Sustainability for enhancing social, economic, and environmental well-being at the grassroots level, through activities that support community engagement in promoting sustainability and empowering residents; forge meaningful connections with communities; and establish partnerships with public stakeholders on programs addressing local needs.
Sustainability Leadership Award: Going Beyond ESG and Driving Sustainable Transformation for embracing sustainability as a core value, implementing transformative strategies that extend beyond conventional ESG practices, showing exceptional vision and leadership in driving change within the company and in the communities it serves, and being an inspiring role model in the pursuit of sustainability.
