JV Insardi’s Solar Is a Hot Take on a Classic Shape

Share

What struck me immediately about Solar, the newest collection from JV Insardi Fine Jewelry, is the way it feels like something I’ve always wanted and something I’ve never seen before.

Beaded gold jewelry may be plentiful, but it remains wholly desirable. With gold’s current record-breaking price, nothing says “lap of luxury” like big hunks of glossy gold, and many consumers—at least those who can afford it—want you to know they can afford it.

JV Insardi takes a familiar yet luxurious design to the next level with something else that consumers desire: an interesting designer POV. Solar offers an artful interpretation of round gold jewels that you won’t see coming or going.

“My clients were the primary inspiration for this collection,” says designer Jen Insardi. “Although many consumers express a desire for novelty, I’ve noticed they also have an innate longing for familiar elements.

“The focus isn’t solely on being avant-garde; rather, it’s about enabling them to explore new experiences while staying connected to what they know. I sought to take a commonly used design concept, a shape that’s familiar, and offer a fresh perspective. My intention was to introduce something innovative while still evoking the comforting essence of the classic sphere shape.”

Solar’s 18k yellow gold bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and rings (currently 38 pieces in all) are set with brown diamonds, black sapphires, and smoky quartz—ideal autumn and winter color schemes—some with pops of chalcedony, onyx, or gray pearl.

I’m partial to the bracelets—there’s something about the thought of those cool gold orbs on the wrist I find especially compelling—but you sure can’t go wrong with any of the styles (or a suite of them, for that matter). For consumers interested in nabbing a piece for their holiday festivities or gifts, the collection ranges in price from $2,300 for a pair of stud earrings to $54,800 for the necklace with big-mama beads as large as 12 mm (pictured at top)—no small purchase, but one that has the potential to last in both style and structure for years, even generations, to come.

“The gold bead is a classic concept in fine jewelry, used repeatedly throughout history. However, I’ve noticed that its evolution in contemporary fine jewelry has been minimal,” Insardi says. “JV Insardi designs are intentionally timeless yet never predictable. While the sphere remains a timeless shape, the unique and intricate carvings make each piece unexpectedly distinctive.”
