March is just about wrapping up, in what feels like the final stretch of winter. Soon, budding trees will be in full bloom (this area’s famous cherry blossoms are just about to peak), spring breakers will have spring breaked, and not only will everyone we know be readying their summer plans—our industry will be in full-on Vegas Jewelry Week mode.
My inbox this month was overflowing with gorgeous aquamarine, the star of the month as March’s birthstone. I often find this gemstone irresistible and particularly arresting in its sky blue shade as well as in the icy greenish-blue as it appears in Sean Gilson’s creation below.
Surprisingly absent from my March inbox was the usual influx of floral designs typically synonymous with the start of spring. Have we finally outdone flowers this season? Hardly—forever blooms are enchanting as ever—but perhaps April and May have more in store as we anticipate Mother’s Day.
Aquamarine was certainly the star of March, but there were some other lovely surprises in my inbox this month—some favorites, below.
