Jewelers for Children (JFC), the industry’s leading charity, has appointed Sara Murphy executive director, effective Oct. 23.

She replaces outgoing executive director David Rocha (pictured), who is retiring after serving as JFC’s executive director since 2004.

Murphy comes to JFC with nearly 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, most recently as director of development with the New York City Anti-Violence Project.

“I am honored to join Jewelers for Children and excited to build on the amazing work David has done over the last 19 years,” Murphy said in a statement. “The board of JFC is an incredible group of people ensuring that life-changing funds go to children who need them most, and I look forward to working with them to continue and grow our impact.”

Founded in 1999, Jewelers for Children has raised more than $61 million for such organizations as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Make-A-Wish America, and the National CASA/GAL Association.
