The eerily named new line of jewels speaks to mythological sea serpents made in karat gold
Lisa Kim’s latest collection has her signature sci-fi effect—“a dreamlike fusion of crystals and teeth,” she told me last year—but in a funky new form: sea creatures. Enter her Seabeast collection, which officially debuts in a few weeks. Kim sent me a few snaps this week, and I immediately loved the quirkiness of these Jawbone ear climbers in 18k gold.
“The Seabeast aims to inspire that feeling of mystery and wonder you experience when you see fossils of animals that went extinct long ago,” she explained in an email interview. “No one really knows what this creature looked like, but each of us can dream up our own version when we view this collection.”
Jagged gold animal choppers climbing up my ear? Why not? It’s a fierce statement to make that may create a cushion of extra space between me and other subway riders during rush hour.
