In a
coup for the jewelry industry, TMG and Reed Exhibitions announced at the JCK
Show the hiring of JCK magazine’s
former publisher Mark Smelzer, who successfully led JCK for five years before leaving a year ago to become publisher of
The Advocate. Previously, Smelzer was
associate publisher of Variety.

“I’m
thrilled to be back at JCK and back
in the jewelry industry,” Smelzer said. “More than ever, I appreciate the relationships, the
community, and the emotional product that are the underpinnings of this
industry. They make it truly unlike any other. I’m also fortunate to rejoin the
