JCK Jewelry Agenda: Week of June 11

Share

Since we’re all recovering from our week in Sin City, we’re keeping things low-key this week: a couple of webinars, a museum exhibit that’s running the rest of the year, and a jam-packed auction (okay, that one’s not really low-key). And keep an eye out for jewels at the 76th Tony Awards on Sunday, June 11 (6:30–8 p.m. ET on Pluto TV, 8–11 p.m. on CBS and Paramount+). We won’t predict the winners, but we will predict some good jewelry. Perhaps Jessica Chastain in Gucci?

Phillips New York Jewels: June 13, 10 a.m. ET (in-person)

Boivin starfish brooch sapphire diamonds art deco
René Boivin art deco starfish brooch with sapphires, diamonds, and blue enamel in platinum and 18k white gold; est. $500,000–$800,000

In case you didn’t get your fill of spectacular jewels in Las Vegas, Phillips New York has nearly 150 pieces on the block in this week’s sale, including two by Belperron, four by Boivin (yes, there’s a starfish brooch!), a Verdura Maltese cross cuff, tons of art deco, and a 44 ct. fancy intense yellow diamond ring. You know, something casual.

VISIT

Museum of Natural History’s “Garden of Green”: through January (in-person)

Van Cleef and Arpels Quatre Chemins necklace
Van Cleef & Arpels Quatre Chemins necklace (2019) in white gold and platinum with Zambian emeralds, diamonds, and sapphires

We’ve been telling you for months that all shades of green are hotter than ever, and this just-opened special exhibit at NYC’s American Museum of Natural History—in the recently renovated Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals—offers even more proof: “Garden of Green: Exquisite Jewelry from the Collection of Van Cleef & Arpels” showcases 44 pieces from the French high jewelry house, most of which have never been seen in the United States. You’ll see plenty of emerald, naturally, but also jadeite, peridot, malachite, chrysoprase, chalcedony, and more.
