Valentine’s Day is this Friday. Here’s hoping it’s a busy, busy week for you in terms of sales—and romance. For your downtime, there’s a show in Palm Beach, a fashion exhibition at Pratt in NYC, and podcast recommendations. Bisous!
SHOP
The Palm Beach Show: Starts Feb. 13

Held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, this annual event is an excuse for East Coasters to enjoy some sun and surf at the height of winter, yes—but it’s also a hub for discovering prestigious jewelry designers and dealers. Interspersed among exhibitors specializing in painting, decorative arts, and furnishings, you’ll find Taffin, Adam Neeley, and Cicada as well as antique/estate jewelers such as Yafa, Camilla Dietz Bergeron, M.S. Rau, and many others. On Friday, make time for expert-led talks hosted by Maison Édéenne (at 2 p.m.) and Provident Jewelry (4 p.m.).
ATTEND
“Black Dress II: Homage” at Pratt Manhattan: Through March 22

When jewelry designer Angely Martinez posted that she was part of “Black Dress II: Homage,” a new exhibition at Pratt Manhattan Gallery, we were instantly intrigued. A follow-up to the gallery’s original “Black Dress” 10 years ago, this latest show seeks to celebrate the transformative influence of Black creatives in the fashion industry. Curated by Pratt Institute fashion professor Adrienne Jones and alumna Rachelle Etienne-Robinson, this multimedia exhibit explores the contributions of Black designers, tailors, models, stylists, and journalists.
LISTEN
The Jewelry District podcast: Episode 139 (ongoing)
In the latest episode, JCK editor-in-chief Victoria Gomelsky and news director Rob Bates interview father-daughter duo Richard “Dick” Hughes and Billie Hughes (pictured), cofounders of Lotus Gemology, a full-service colored gemstone testing lab based in Bangkok. The gemstone world is complex—but fascinating—and these two pros give listeners an insider’s (audio) guide to its scintillating nooks and crannies.
Plumb Club podcast: February episodes (ongoing)
This month’s podcast episodes have dropped, and they are a colorful bunch. Literally. In “Boost Your Gemstone Sales With Color Psychology,” Monica McDaniel of Chatham posits that color is a key element in creating emotion—and can help with sales. In “Color Trends With Pantone,” industry veteran Cheryl Kremkow interviews Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, about Pantone’s 2025 Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse, and all the colorful gems consumers will be looking for this year and beyond.
