T-minus eight days till the culmination of the 2023 holiday season. Time is of the essence! Especially at the week’s two biggest events, which both, coincidentally, revolve around timepieces. If you’re in Miami or New York this week, don’t miss the fun.
ATTEND
Cartier Exhibition in Miami Design District: through Dec. 22 (in person)

The “Time Unlimited” exhibition shines a light on Cartier’s well-deserved reputation as “the watchmaker of shapes,” a reference to the brand’s history of making non-round wristwatches, from the rectangular Tank and its many fetching iterations to the bathtub-shaped Baignoire, the “It watch” of the season. On view in a temporary exhibit space in the Miami Design District through Friday, the displays will enchant watch lovers but should be equally enticing to fans of great, enduring design.
Accutron “Tipping Point” Exhibit in NYC: through Dec. 31 (in person)
The story of how and why Accutron developed its timekeeping technology in the 1960s, shifting the balance of power in modern horology along the way, is the subject of a new collaborative exhibition between Accutron and pre-owned dealer Analog:Shift. “The Tipping Point: An Exhibition of Historical Accutron Models” is open to the public by appointment through Dec. 31. To schedule your walk-through, contact info@analogshift.com.

Francesca Amfitheatrof: Fantastical Jewels
If you admired Deep Time, Francesca Amfitheatrof’s fifth high jewelry collection for Louis Vuitton (introduced in July during Paris Couture week), you’ll love Fantastical Jewels, a celebration of her work at the fashion house, where she has served as artistic director of jewelry and watches since 2018. Written by Amfitheatrof’s sister Stefania, the book details the designer’s personal journey (including stints at Chanel, Marni, and Tiffany & Co., where she was the Blue Box jeweler’s first-ever female design director, from 2014 to 2018) and provides a glimpse of her creative process, as documented by sketches, gouaches, collages, and personal photographs. Buy it for yourself and then regift it at the family gift exchange!
