By most people’s reckoning, the last week of summer is upon us. That may explain why the event pickings are slim this week. Sit back and enjoy a couple new Plumb Club podcasts or take a virtual tour of Tucson’s Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum (or both)—you can’t go wrong.
LISTEN
New Plumb Club Podcasts (ongoing)
The Plumb Club dropped two new podcasts earlier this month. In “Store Design: Your Crucial First Impression,” Leslie McGwire, an award-winning interior designer and author, dispenses tips on how to find impactful lighting, create eye-catching case design, take advantage of cost-effective floor and wall coverings, and, finally, keep a store looking current.
On the next episode, “Silver Streak: Why Sales of Silver Jewelry Are Growing,” veteran marketer Cheryl Kremkow, speaking on behalf of Plumb Club member Samuel B., makes clear why the bright white metal has become a rising star for retailers. In addition to highlighting silver’s jewelry heritage, she also reflects on its designer affiliations and its growing potential at retail.
ATTEND
Virtual Tour of Tucson’s Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum: Aug. 31, 12 p.m. ET (online)
Thanks to Gemflix, you can visit the new—and extraordinary—Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum in Tucson from the comfort of your own home this week, when the virtual arm of the Gem X social club hosts a presentation. Led by Elizabeth Gass, an exhibition specialist at the museum, and guest services coordinator Jordan Halter, the virtual tour will touch on how the museum uses education, storytelling, and interactive presentations to help bridge the gap between the mineral and jewelry industries.
