The Jewelers Board of Trade (JBT) has appointed Richard Weisenfeld as its new president.
Weisenfeld has served as acting president of the Providence, R.I.–based group following the retirement of JBT president Anthony Capuano.
Weisenfeld has served on the JBT board of directors for 17 years. He was elected to its executive committee in 2008 and served as board chairman from 2014 to 2015.
He has also worked in various executive positions at a wide range of companies, including Pranda North America, Filk SpA, Bel-Oro, and Riva Precision Manufacturing.
He is a member of the 24 Karat Club of New York City, Providence Jewelers Club, Boston Jewelers Club, Women’s Jewelry Association, and International Precious Metals Institute.
The announcement came shortly after the news that the had group elected Michael Kaplan its chairman.
