The Israel Diamond Exchange will mark its 70th anniversary in Tel Aviv on Nov. 23 with the participation of thousands of diamantaires from Israel and abroad.
The event will be attended by Eli Ishai, Israel’s minister of Industry, Trade and Labor, and other ministers, political figures, leading bankers, foreign ambassadors, and diplomats.
Among the international guests will be Sergey Ulin, vice president of Alrosa; Gaetano Cavalieri, president of CIBJO – The World Jewellery Confederation; Eli Izhakoff, chairman of the World Diamond Council; Varda Shine, managing director of the DTC; and representatives from diamond exchanges in China, the U.S., and Europe.
The evening will celebrate the role of the Israel Diamond Exchange in the development of the world diamond industry, and its contribution to the development of the State of Israel. Top Israeli entertainers will appear, and a film on the history of the Israel Diamond Exchange will be screened for the first time.
Avi Paz, president of the IDE and the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, said: “The Israel Diamond Exchange is one of the central pillars of the Israeli economy. In the current economic climate, it is even more important to review and extol our accomplishments over the past 70 years. I am very pleased that leaders of the world diamond industry will join us for this event.”
The event will include a ceremony granting honorary membership in the Israel Diamond Exchange to Shine. This will be the first time that Honorary Membership in the IDE is granted to a woman.
