Friends wearing your jewelry to mark a milestone is gratifying, but it becomes a media moment when your friend is Hailey Bieber, the model and beauty entrepreneur, who recently shared Isabela Rangel Grutman’s Mom ring on social media.
In case you haven’t heard, Bieber is married to a singer of some fame from Canada named Justin, and in August they welcomed son Jack Blues. In September, Hailey wore the Mom ring and posted about it in her Instagram Stories—causing Marie Claire to declare “Talk about a push present.”
Grutman says that working with Bieber was easy given their friendship and trust, and that serving clients—celebrity or not—like this is one reason she got into making jewelry. The Mom ring isn’t a custom piece; Hailey selected it from the ready-to-wear collections of brand Isa Grutman.
Because of confidentiality, Grutman cannot reveal everything about her relationship with Hailey, Justin, or even baby Jack. But she says how she deals with the Biebers is surprisingly similar to the way she approaches every one of her clients.
“Their happiness is my happiness,” says Grutman. “The choice between a custom design and a piece from our predesigned collection truly depends on the client’s preferences. It is all about striking the perfect balance—sometimes they find something that deeply resonates with their aesthetic from our existing collection, while other times they desire a more unique piece that is just for them.”
The Mom ring is one of Grutman’s favorite designs, and she was proud to see Bieber share it. Having a bunch of magazines and websites report on Bieber’s post and publicize the brand? That’s icing on the cake.
“It’s incredibly rewarding and fulfilling to see one of our pieces get media coverage—not only does it elevate the brand’s visibility, but it also draws in new clients,” Grutman says. “I cherish the moments when our designs become part of someone’s special story.”
Isa Grutman’s flagship store recently opened in the Miami Design District, showcasing curved lines and an ambiance of refined elegance, the designer says. Born and raised in Brazil, Grutman began modeling at the age of 14, and traveled the world to shoot campaigns for such iconic brands as L’Oréal, Adidas, and Stuart Weitzman.
In her jewelry business, Grutman says she likes to meet with shoppers in person when possible, but she ensures that online or emailed orders involve lots of conversation, great customer service, easy tracking, and timely delivery.
“I truly value direct contact with my clients as it allows me to gain a better sense of their wants and needs,” she says. “I love when they visit the new Isa Grutman store—it is so fun and refreshing to be able to style their jewelry in real time. There is something incredibly rewarding about selecting pieces together and witnessing their delight as they leave with an Isa Grutman piece.”
