Jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth has opened a second location in Los Angeles—a shared retail space with a best friend—across town from her lovely West Hollywood storefront on Melrose Place.
The jewelry designer has teamed up with Laura Vinroot Poole, owner of Capitol, a lauded Charlotte, N.C.–based fashion boutique chain that stocks apparel from Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, Proenza Schouler, and other top-tier designer brands, along with jewelry from brands including Of Rare Origin, Gem Palace, Pamela Love, Lizzie Fortunato (and, of course, Irene Neuwirth).
The 2,500-square-foot joint shop, the first Capitol store outside of Charlotte, opened this past weekend at L.A.’s iconic Brentwood Country Mart shopping center in Santa Monica, Calif.
Irene Neuwirth jewels have their own 300-square-foot shop inside the chic and colorful boutique, which carries cerebral designer apparel collections including Peter Pilotto, Valentino, Rosie Assoulin, and Dries Van Noten.
The new store, dubbed Capitol Brentwood, showcases the largest assortment of Neuwirth’s jewels outside of the brand’s Melrose Place flagship—in a breezy, California-inspired space designed by Pamela Shamshiri of Studio Shamshiri. The jewelry edit, which features limited, one-of-a-kind designs, sits inside custom Wardian cases—where it shares space with bespoke curiosities from artist Clare Crespo.
The store’s pretty interiors marry pastel fabrics, French oak herringbone floors, vintage mid-century modern furnishings, and a vertical garden by Patrick Blanc.
The retailers (and close friends) plan to host a series of designer-led events “and rowdy dinners fueled by Laura’s family’s infamous moonshine” in the coming months.
Neuwirth said in a statement that opening a shop with Poole “is the dreamiest dream come true!” She added, “In the years since we first met, our friendship has blossomed, and Laura has become one of my dearest friends. Capitol is hands down my most favorite place to shop, so naturally when this opportunity presented itself, even though I already have a store in Los Angeles, there was absolutely no way I was passing it up. Laura is the most stylish, elegant, smart, hardworking, tasteful Southern belle—and I’m the luckiest to be bringing this to life with her in my hometown.”
