Jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth is among the nominees for Accessories Designer of the Year at the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards, the prestigious awards sponsored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
This is Neuwirth’s first nomination in the category. She was previously nominated for the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design in 2012 and 2013 and won the award in 2014.
The most recent jewelry designer to win the Accessories Designer of the Year category was Alexis Bittar in 2010. Prior to that, it was Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. in 1996.
The other nominees for Accessories Designer of the Year are Alexander Wang, shoe designer Tabitha Simmons, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, and Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen for The Row. (The Olsens won the award in 2014.)
The nominees for the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design include jewelry designer Eva Zuckerman of Eva Fehren. She is up against shoe designer Paul Andrew and Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel of leathergoods label Mansur Gavriel.
